The upgrade ladder

Equipment can be upgraded from +0 to +10. Early upgrades are certain; later attempts have lower success rates. Before committing resources, decide whether the item fits a build you will keep using.

Upgrade a plan, not every drop

A useful leveling piece can justify modest investment, but an item you expect to replace soon is a poor place to commit scarce late-stage materials. Read the skill family and damage type on a bonus before assuming it helps your main attack.

Rune-set thresholds create another decision. Compare the complete combination of stats and set effects rather than judging a single item by its upgrade number. A higher number alone does not settle the choice.

Expect later attempts to cost more

Costs increase with item level and upgrade tier. Ancient equipment has higher costs, and the final two tiers also require boss materials. Check the blacksmith’s current cost and success display before each attempt.

The percentages above describe individual attempts. They do not promise a fixed number of tries or turn repeated failures into a guaranteed next success.

Test the result in a real run

After changing gear, repeat the same farming route and compare rewards and deaths. A defensive improvement may produce better long-term progress even if a brief damage display barely changes.
