Start with a +10 item you intend to keep

Patch 1.0.1 adds two equipment progression stages after +10: Enlightened I and Enlightened II. A Consecration Stone is required for the process. Finish the ordinary upgrade ladder before planning an Enlightenment.

Choose the item by its useful attributes, unique effect and place in your build. A piece that supports your main attack or keeps a run alive is a better long-term investment than a temporary replacement.

What each Enlightenment changes

Use the item preview and the current upgrade panel to compare the result with your equipped piece. Upgrade tooltips now show the bonus gained beside each stat, making it easier to separate the item’s original value from its upgrade contribution.

Get Consecration Stones from Mythic Rift bosses

Consecration Stones drop from Mythic Rift bosses and are precious tradable materials. Keep them for the equipment you plan to Enlighten, or compare an Auction offer before deciding what to do with a spare stone.

A Gold Bar has a different purpose: it can be sold to a merchant for 2,500,000 gold. It is not the material named for Enlightenment. Keep the two commodities separate when budgeting an upgrade.

Recheck the cost of reaching +10

In 1.0.1, each attempt to upgrade Rare, Legendary or Divine gear to +9 or +10 uses one boss material instead of three. Gold costs increase, so the lower material requirement does not mean every part of the upgrade is cheaper.

Check the blacksmith’s total displayed cost before consuming resources. Reserve the Consecration material separately from the boss materials used by the ordinary upgrade ladder.

Measure the result in your normal content

  • Record the item and the skills used before changing the equipment.
  • Compare Damage Overall and Current DPS on the Training Dummy with the same rotation.
  • Repeat your farming route or boss fight and include mana gaps, potion use and deaths.
  • Use similar session lengths when comparing net XP and gold.
